I've finally decided on a nursery theme! Although we don't even have a room for baby yet, I am still excited to brainstorm these ideas and to put them all together soon! I'm really not at the nesting stage just yet. I know we have time and that things will fall into place eventually. Optimistic thinking, people! But - here is what I'm hoping to put together for our little darling.
I'm a huge fan of grey and white because let's be honest, it's VERY neutral! It also looks clean and simple. As much as I like the idea if yellow, it was much too boyish. That's where I turned to the idea of gold, and even perhaps silver and that's when purple came into play! I want the room to feel calm, yet whimsical. Pink is way too loud and like I mentioned before, I want nothing to do with it!
Thank gawd for Pinterest. I've got some ideas up my sleeve. I plan on creating a DIY version of this beautifully made tissue paper tassel garland. It'll certainly give the room it’s ‘color theme’ as I don’t plan on painting or buying too many knick-knacks.

This rug. This freaking rug. I’ve been searching high and low for a fuzzy, faux, shag WHITE rug and you know what - Walmart of all freaking places has one. There were a few I had my eye on that ran about $toomanydollars and I was almost at the point where I found some fabric online and I was planning on cutting my own but, you know, Wally World saves the day.
The moon is a goddess and how beautiful she is. This amazing phases of the moon calendar is large, yet simple and has this incredible silver sheen that I am looking for.
I’ve certainly got my head in the clouds. I’ve always been a daydreamer- out in lala land-thinker and it just goes to show my love for the stars and moon. I fear this star light may be pushing it, I don’t want the room to be too cluttered but I do want soft light. There also happens to be the perfect lamp and shade that I spotted at Hobby Lobby that I just may have to snag.
My dear friend is giving me her white crib that she has used for both of her daughters. It's still in great shape and I love the fact that it is white. So incredibly thankful for hand me downs you have no idea! I may go with polka got or chevron striped sheets in grey and white. I'm also working on a handmade crochet blanket for our darling in grey, purple, and white. I also can't get over this silver sequin embellished "zzz' pillow and look at the fox one too! Perfect.
One last touch will be a changing table/dresser. My dad and Joey have so kindly offered to get us some furniture that this little girl will be able to hold on to as she grows and I've had my eye on just a simple white dresser. I've actually never had a dresser of my own so I am quite excited about getting one! OH! And a rocking chair. My dad is giving me the chair that he bought for my mom to use for me. Can't wait to sit in her room and rock away...
So those are my hopes and dreams for a simple, whimsy, and lullaby inspired nursery. I can't wait to piece it all together and display it in the future!
