HELLO THIRD TRIMESTER | WEEK 28

I’ve officially stepped into the realm of my third trimester. I am 7 whole months pregnant.  M I N D B L O W N. During my first trimester I had a hard time grasping the idea of being pregnant and what it was all supposed to feel like. It felt great for the most part and it was definitely a learning and accepting stage. These last few weeks - also known as my second trimester - have been nothing but a breeze. I thought it would be fun to conduct a list of my trimester must haves, but I really didn’t need or do anything out of the ordinary! My clothes still fit, I never used any of the heartburn tablets I purchased, and sleep was semi-normal. I can vouch that purchasing a bunch of new panties and a few bigger bras helped wonders though.

I am so surprised and also sad that this will be my last trimester of pregnancy. Time, you can slow down please! I still get told that I am ~sew~ small every.single.day. but I have a feeling this Pumpkin Bump will start to grow larger with each day approaching. Getting out of bed and the car is more difficult. I waddle and walk slower. I get tired very easily. And my belly button is beginning to disappear! Like, the belly button wants to remain an innie and is literally being swallowed by my growing belly.

This little lady, who has yet to be named, keeps pretty quiet throughout the day. She is most active at night and has been hanging on to my right side for weeks. She somersaults rather than kicks and the motion of her movement is so cool! It reminds me of back when I felt those little butterfly flutters. She seems to also use my bladder as a hammock to swing on. I have to wear panty liners, people! I am completely used to the fact that she is always with me floating along for the ride. I cherish every day of this pregnancy yet It will be so incredible once she is outside and in my arms.

My craving for sweets is still undeniably ridiculous. Max found a Snickers bar in my purse that I had been hiding/sneaking to eat once a craving hit. I brought home a massive brownie for us to ‘share’ in hopes he would let me have a little bit of it! I completely agree with Max’s awareness with how much sugar I should NOT consume though. It has me looking back at how careless I used to eat before I got pregnant and now that there is a little one growing inside of me I am completely aware of some of the things that are so harmful and plain right no good for the body, especially for our precious freaking fetus. Also, bread. I don’t crave it but boy have I been shoving it into my mouth every meal.

For the most part, things have continued to go very smoothly. I try not to think of time because that’s when I start to feel rushed to have this baby. I’m also missing having a place to call my own. I place to come home to and just have my space. This week I will definitely be pushing Max and I to start looking and filling out applications for places. I need to sign up for the birthing classes and get registered for the hospital. And it’s allllllmost starting to annoy me how I have the SAME people ask me when my due date is, even within a few days of each other. It’s a daily occurrence but I still manage to keep a smile on my face.

I’m welcoming this last and third trimester with open arms. It makes me so eager to meet this lady of ours! What we have to look forward to in these next few weeks are a scheduled ultrasound, 4th of July, a baby shower, a few weddings to attend, settling in to our own place, I might try and get a bigger car {fingers-crossed}, a NAME FOR THIS BABY, hopefully some camping and fishing trips here and there, the summer sun, and before we know it :: our baby will be here!

GLUCOSE TEST | WEEK 28

glucola drank // lemon lime

The dreaded glucose test has come and gone! I understand that this test helps detect gestational diabetes but I find it so funny that it's okay for pregnant bodies to consume this!

I had a hard time sleeping the night before deciding whether or not I was going to consume the glucola the next day. I was given this drink to take home and drink it anytime after the 16th, so it was really up to me!  It's not that I was scared how it would taste or worried about what my results might end up being, but it was the process on a strict time frame that had me all ruffled.

I was not allowed to fast. Have any sugar with my meals beforehand. I would have to wait 2 hours after a meal to take the drink. I needed to test exactly 1 hour after I consumed the drink and needed to be in the office 40 minutes after I finished 'drinking' the damn drink, all while NOT falling in between the time frame from 10:30-3:30. Wut?

Can you see why that had my mind up and running? I managed to time everything out effortlessly and I was in and out of the patient room within minutes. They gave my finger a tiny prick and voila, my results were confirmed passing!
